It's true, I was intrigued by the name. It's really the religious thing that bothered me. When it's just coarse salt . So I find that a bit dumb naming it so. There's so many different types of salts, at first I thought that they prayed to it, which is ridiculous, right ? You have sel de Guérande, and from various parts of the world. You have Himalayan salts , mostly used for decoration considering the price, so just call it flaky or coarse. Nice video btw, because we didn't understand why. Oh, and just in case, you do know where the word salary comes from ?

@Mass Debater I'm not sure that you understood my point really . It's th fact to give it a religious dimension for something that the whole world uses. We have mountain salt here, so shall I call it Christian salt ? I did ask a question at the end of my post. No need to Google, just say yes or no .

@Mass Debater which apparently you didn't understand I noticed that you didn't answer my last question, as the author of the video. Iodized salt was used to fight against goiter in case you didn't know, just as citrus was used for sailors to fight against scorbut. There was no religion attached to it Come to Europe and ask people if they use kosher salt . All you'll get is blank, funny and puzzled looks. So please stop it.

Actually, english is my mother tongue and I also speak french as well. And surely you know that in french cuisine, nobody ever uses the term kosher salt ? It's you that seems to have a problem. Ask anyone in Europe or the rest of the world, people will give you funny looks. For me it's coarse salt. Himalayan salt is very expensive, curiously , difficult to find Dead Sea salt. Now, with that , have a nice Sabbbath, and etc .

@lookoutforchris I believe that I was quite clear upon the subject. What's your point? Take a blind test, you won't know what is kosher salt or not. Coarse, , that's easy, himalayan , black , pink , sea, mountain, so your remark is displaced

@chickenfishhybrid44 its the fact that murican chefs use it every time. Puts people off. You don't get that do you? Though the Jewish shops do exist somewhere here, I never found one . I understand that they use it for meat, as it's a slaughtering way, same as halal I think. A friend did try halal meat and tasted no difference between that and the other meat. True, we do have different names for ingredients. Ex : okra also called ladies fingers, but you also have bananas called that as well. Anyway , just in case, the usa is not the centre of the world. @Mass Debater I think that I was quite clear. Nobody says, christian, islmacic, hindu, bouddist salt ? So why you harp on it ? You really haven't asked the question. Give me your interpretation. I'm curious. Kosher and halal meat, are no different then other meat. I'm sure you won't make any difference. But it's rather fun , because it is that you seem to create difference wheres there's none. Best wishes to you. Think a bit.
