If you have children and you don't educate them, it's your responsibility. If by discipline you mean hitting them, well I hope that you don't have kids. That's not the way to raise children.

@babuvangu7220 depends on how it's done. Physical punishment doesn't work well. Parents are supposed to be their examples, yes,friends can influence them, especially at the rebellious age, but talking with them sorts things out.

@babuvangu7220 have you had problems with your kids ? I didn't have any with mine. Talking is cheap, you say ? You do know that in a conversation, you listen as well ? I think that you are inferring about your sociocultural vicinitude. So please, don't post about a situation you haven't any idea about. Except that the victim was muslim and committed a few infractions. Which didn't mean that he had to be shot ! And just in case, he was in a reisertation program. And the cop lied. If not for the video, nobody would have known. Was that mentioned ?

@deaddoll1361 it's not those drugs. These mentioned are cannabis, cocaïne, and such. And yes, there's a huge problem with that. However, this isn't the case with the riots. It's much more complicated than what is said here. You haven't got the right picture, it's just to make you feel better than the french.

@JezaGaia the car was stolen, and with polish number plates. The riots are a another matter. He wasn't an angel but not a real criminal, the cop was the killer. A bit like in the US, which isn't an example. The UK has problems as well, but the cops aren't armed. A few yes. I live next to the border and though I wasn't concerned about it, in another city, 62km away a few hundred of twats decided to copy . Its a sort of game apparently. The major issue is that some religious idiots will thrive with this.

@elmo4672 Thanks , you put it more succinctly than I. But as you have noticed, some people think it's fine and I do not think that. Parents are there to educate them on the social skills that they need to know. And you are right. It does have deep consequences later on.

@FirstLast-zk5ow I agree on some points. But, you see , that's the rub. A lot of parents discharge their duties to the school. Teachers aren't nannies, and they do complain about that. Teachers don't have an easy job, you know. So, saying that blaming the parents is a cop out, I'm afraid, but I disagree with you. You don't have kids and expect that the state should look after them. The thing about France is that it has an incredible array of different sorts of financial aid. And I'm afraid to say that quite a lot of people abuse. And I mostly vote for the centre left. And those 13yo kids , at 1am , looting, for them it was a sort of tik tok game. This is a problem in quite a lot of countries.

@FirstLast-zk5ow I have never heard of teachers pushing psychotropic drugs on kids , and I don't think anyone else has either. That's a criminal offence ! In which country do you live ? If it's in the US, then maybe they do that. As for violence, sorry, but a lot of films are violent, series, etc. As for the daily news, there's always a war somewhere, and you get , at times, distressing images. I'm not talking about very young kids, who should be in bed at that time. For those older, it's the responsibility of the parents to explain what is happening. That is, if they even understand themselves. Now, video games, well, I don't know how things are where you live, but here it isn't much of a worry. A are violent, I agree, but actually, a lot of the kids know that it's just a game. Even the games are really stupid imo. Once again, either parent can ask what's the point of those games and just find other educational ones. You seem to be confusing different issues , and I feel that you seem to want to absolve the parents' role. I'm a father, I never had to punish my kids. I think that it depends on where people live. You have to educate your children about violence, drugs, and yes sexuality. Kids aren't stupid , you know.

@spooky_lxix9042 it's not just the politicians. Some teachers say the same thing. The games in themselves don't have much of an influence, maybe in the US, it's mostly the social media that has a very big role.

Of course they have ! Every country has been talking about it. But we have a free press, unlike yours. And even the media here shows the corruption that exists in our countries ( western Europe, not the eastern part) and the failures. What about yours ? India has become a nominal democracy.
