I call bullshit on that. What difference would tensing your muscles make exactly? None whatsoever

Thomas Croft I think you mean centripital force, there's no such thing as "centrifugal" force. And no, this is just some urban myth. There is absolutely zero data or evidence that indicates going limp before a crash will save you from anything. No idea what "resisting centrifugal force" has to do with anything. It literally makes no difference. Drunk drivers are more likely to survive a crash due to completely unrelated reasons. First theory involves alcohol preventing brain damage. Another theory is that the drunk driver will always know they are about to crash before the victim does, so they take defensive action to protect themselves.

@FroggyMosh You know, I severly intoxicated myself just now for an experiment, and your conclusion is wrong. But I do love you now

@RobinMarks1313 No lol. If you're sober and you know you're about to crash, you try to veer out of the way or dodge somehow. There is absolutely no way anyone has anytime to think about what they'll do before a crash. There is zero evidence of anything you said being correct. Your muscles hold your bones in place??? What??? It literally doesn't make a single difference what state you're in. Why the would a drunk person not "tense up?" Absolute nonsense. The real reason drunk drivers survive more crashes has to do with alcohol preventing brain damage somehow, or the drunk driver usually being aware that they're about to crash and steering themselves away from the main danger. It's nothing like crumple zones on a car. Your body will be affected in exactly the same way, it doesn't matter if you're "tense" or unconscious. It will literally make no difference. Tensing up doesn't change the composition of your body. There is no evidence people tense up before a crash either.
