Good luck finding U235 in nature. You're gonna have to enrich 238 buddy.

Time travel to the future = possible Time travel to the past = currently impossible

@joaobispo2602 well, not every country needs nuclear. As long as all the western countries have nuclear it should be fine. Less CO2 overall and we save a lot of money in energy bills. Renewables and oil can work for countries with less confidence in themselves to manage a nuclear plant I guess.

@alsteiner7602 Using that logic, we shouldn't allow any other power plants to exist because of "mans lowsy ability to do risk assessment." Especially since every other type of power plant is more dangerous than nuclear.

@joaobispo2602 nuclear produces less harmful emissions over a lifetime than solar. Solar is unreliable, and nowhere near as efficient. Nuclear energy will be constant, reliable, extremely safe (especially with thorium) and very efficient. And also it doesn't fry birds.
2
@Vysair That's a massive over exaggeration. Fukushima didn't really affect anything, and the death toll is nothing next to renewables or oil, gas, and coal. Remember waste produce from electric and others lasts forever.
2
@Vysair Nuclear energy doesnt pollute our planet, it's the only suitable alternative, end of discussion
2
@a_hamburger2957 But once it pays for itself, the profits roll in much faster than any other energy source
2
@alsteiner7602 Chernobyl and fukushima killed less than 100 people between them lol

Thank god somebody has a brain

@joaobispo2602 efficient means you get as much power from 100 tons of uranium as you do from 1,200,000 tons of coal
1
@joaobispo2602 for example, Germany runs on mostly renewables, and the electricity costs are the highest in europe. France is almost all nuclear, with very low electricity costs.
1
@joaobispo2602 nuclear powerplant have nothing to do with nuclear bombs. If you have the materials for a powerplant, they can make a bomb anyway. Who cares about the poorer countries? They can stick to renewables. 1st world countries can use nuclear however.
1
@joaobispo2602 your only issue is with poorer countries having nuclear power. Well, they can use renewables then. They dont really need power as much as we do.
1
@joaobispo2602 what country if you dont mind me asking? If it's a high risk country, just dont give them nuclear, or give them thorium (still some plutonium involved there but very little.) As long as its inspected by an outside source it should be fine.
1
@awesomebob1999 It is. Fossil fuel plants produce half the total global emissions. Theres a video on my channel if you'd like to check it out

Dr Deuteron Well there was an explosion of sorts

@73_65 exactly
1
@alsteiner7602 Right. So no cost cutting should solve the issue. There we go, no more issue
1
@JNelson_ Yeah pretty much.

@justadictatorridingonanuke3714 it wouldn't be our past
