This is exactly why we need to remove all fossil fuel plants and replace them with nuclear. No need for fossil fuel plants anymore. The transport sector produces about half the CO2 that these power plants produce. We need to go fully nuclear.

@Marco-it2mr true nuclear has downsides. It is expensive and it requires infrastructure and proper funding and safety checks. And no, its physically impossible for a nuclear power plant to go up in a mushroom cloud. Can never happen. Worst case scenario is a meltdown. But nuclear plants are the safest form of any production there is. They are safer than wind turbines for fucks sake. Nuclear is the only clean energy source as of today that can meet changing power demands and provide a constant source of power 24/7 year round. They are also very efficient and their efficiency can increase once thorium plants are up and running.

@Marco-it2mr Yeah, and theres no reason not to build thorium reactors. Most of the issue stems from green party and a lack of education on nuclear power. Thorium is very readily available, is is more efficient and safe than uranium, and produces even less nuclear waste. Why we haven't switched yet can only be explained by an uninformed population.

@vingvingduy1779 because solar cannot meet new demands and isn't a constant reliable source of energy, aka the sun has to shine in order for it to produce power. Even when the sun shines, it's not efficient enough and doesn't produce enough energy. Solar is a great source of supplementary energy don't get me wrong, as long as it's not made with toxic chemicals. But nuclear can meet all sorts of power demands 24/7/ 365 days a year theoretically.
