  6.  @livelife4928  No my point is that the entire idea of flying cars is idiotic, pointless, and not futuristic at all. A self driving flying car is just a plane on autopilot. A flying car that you yourself drive, would require a special kind of licence (pilots licence) and special landing and takeoff pads or runways, like a plane or helicopter, and eventually it would be shaped differently to be more streamlined, and it would require some sort of radar or traffic control to avoid collisions, and will ultimately turn into....a light aircraft or a helicopter.... Lol

Pointing the finger and saying "bUt tHey dO iT tOo!" like a 5 year old child doesn't make your case any stronger. At least we know Aliens are possible, because life is possible, and planets capable of harbouring life are possible. What we don't know, and never will know however, is if magical invisible fairytale beings from some barbaric old books are possible. You can't only not prove the existence of a god, you also can't prove the POSSIBILITY of the existence of a god. And anything that is asserted without evidence, can and will be dismissed without evidence. I should've specified that I was talking about blind faith vs faith based on evidence. I forgot the type of person I was talking to needed that to be pointed out to them of course. I can prove planes exist, and that they are extremely safe and they do their jobs quite well. What I can't do, is assert as a fact something that no man can possibly ever know, e.g. the existence of some magical invisible unprovable being. Even worse than that, you claim to know this beings motives and intentions! Insane levels of narcissism don't ya think?

The british actually put their ideas into practice and the economic and millitary strength of the british empire allowed it to begin advancing in other areas. Greek philosophers had already invented the steam engine but only in their heads. The problem with the greeks is that they were satisfied with just coming up with a good idea, and never bothered to put those ideas in practice

Between the discovery of agriculture and the 1600s, no significant technological progress occurred, no one thought the future would be any different from the present, except maybe a different king being in charge.

There is no such thing as an absolute fact in science. Nothing is absolute outside of mathematics. Science is just a method of investigation of the natural world, using evidence and observation to create the best possible descriptions and explanations of what we can test and experiment on. In science, the goal is to try to prove something wrong, until you find out that you can't. You're never trying to prove something right. Fairytales are unfalsifiable. Your god is unfalsifiable. That automatically makes it supernatural fiction outside the realms if science. If you can't prove it wrong, and you can't prove it right either, it's because it doesn't exist. Just like you can't disprove the existence of a magical invisible teapot living in the sky, that controls the universe. Lack of evidence is precisely how to disprove something's existence. It's the only way in fact. Blind faith is the most dishonest position anyone can ever possibly have. It is the opposite of science and logical thinking. Incredible how convoluted your line of thinking and your belief system is. So your favourite magical being that allegedly loves us humans so much, makes it impossible for us to find evidence of his existence, only to then punish the smart humans that actually have good reasons to question and doubt his existence with a punishment so severe, that literally no human on earth could possibly ever deserve it. Not like heaven's much better either of course, as it's a literal eternity of mindless slave worship of some narcissistic, evil being with no way out. I'd rather just die. And of course I have to repeat myself. Planes don't require blind faith. I know for a fact that planes are statistically the safest form of transport in existence. We also know for a fact that life is possible, and that planets are possible. We've known that life is possible forever. This isn't a recent discovery. However, the situation for your belief is far worse than just a lack of evidence for a god existing. There is literally no indication of a POSSIBILITY of such a thing existing. Not even a possibility. Never mind a magical being like that actually existing. If the bible is anything to go on, gods understanding is that of a primitive bronze age goat herder. So we are more advanced than this bible god of yours. And even if there was a god, everything in the bible is still demonstrably false and hilariously ignorant and stupid. The bible will still be a book of stolen fables from earlier legends and myths, with some obvious poetry and things not meant to be taken literal (like the entire book of genesis) also stolen from older works like the Epic of Gilgamesh.

  26.  @dominic.h.3363  In the 70s we were risking our lives, putting man on the moon, pushing ourselves to new extremes, flying around in supersonic passenger jets when not even 2 decades earlier we were still travelling around on piston props. After the 80s was just downhill. We have lost our balls as a society, and can't even go on a picnic without signing 500 health and safety forms and legal documents. Bureaucracy has killed the joy of life, and the incentive for technological progress simply doesn't exist anymore. We may not progress again for a few thousand years now. Not even computers are progressing any longer.

  27.  @dominic.h.3363  No, our common sense didn't evolve. The exact opposite happened actually. We devolved, mentally and physically. I'm a zoomer. On the outskirts, but still a zoomer. And even I can admit that we're a garbage generation. We have entered a dark age. Actually it's more like returning to the normal state of the world. Stagnation is the norm. So we will stagnate for at least another couple of thousand years before something like the industrial revolution happens again unfortunately. Progress is not guaranteed, nor is it necessary for our survival. Competition does breed sustainable progress. If it wasn't for competition, the green revolution would've never happened, and world hunger would still be a real problem, not caused by supply problems, but by actual shortages. Droughts and famines, disease, all have been solved by technological progress. If we continued, out towards the planets, asteroid mining, we would have practically infinite resources, infinite water, infinite surfaces to build habitats on, terraforming projects, interstellar travel, we would become gods. Progress is always a good goal. No matter what. This current state we are in now is inevitable. A dickless society, where today's men are more like yesterdays women. Everyone is a whiny, virtue signalling, pretentious, spoilt softie.

Even if there was some man called Jesus, the actual character of Jesus people think of today is probably so removed from the truth, it's like a Robin Hood tale. The actual man it's based on wouldn't even recognise himself in the modern bible.

I mean apart from the bible and its copycat religions, where else can we see 1st hand accounts of this man? That's what I'm struggling with. Just how much of the character is actually based on a single real person? Are some aspects borrowed from older legends? Or are they all based on the same guy? What actually happened?
