  1. Decades ago in my home town a young girl was brutally murdered in her neighbourhood. The cops new it was someone close to her. They said they had the killers DNA, but had no right to demand samples from just any guy. So they asked for all the men in her area to voluntary submit their DNA, to rule them out as suspects of course. Every guy in her area obliged police with their request, but only two men refused. That kinda narrowed it down for homicide investigators and they began to look closely at these two men. They caught the killer soon afterwards. Whether or not the cops actually had DNA samples from the murder scene was never confirmed. It really wasn’t the DNA they were after.
