  2. being inculcated into formal academia is often the cause of many students being ‘dumbed down’, whereas being forced to develop ‘street smarts’ without any formal post secondary level of education forces one to think on their feet, really as a matter of survival, not merely the pursuit of letters from within the cushy and comfortable halls of academia.
