Third world means all rest systems (e.g. developmentalism, else one pretty popular system). Russia is actually close to 2nd world, because over 75% of it economics in state property nowadays (reason why in resurrected after total ruins when came capitalists to power back in 1985). None of this category is better than any rest in standards of life. There are a lot examples when 3rd world lived better than 1st and 2nd and so on. 2) Soviet apartment blocks… actually it is invention by famous Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier. Functional blocks, conception of cities like factories. Incredible popular in own time, firstly arrived in New-York over 100 years ago. You can find images of his plan of renovation of Paris (almost launched) and you will see this classical "soviet" blocks)

  2. Moscow subway opened in 1935 (station which visited Carlson — 1954). While Shanghai subway opened in 1993. Two different epoch. Soviet specialists visited Shanghai back in 1950 and proposed to build subway, but by some reasons project was not launched at that days and delayed until 1990s.
