Omg, you are so wrong. Not sure you will understand due different cultures/histories.
1. It is easy to select side. One side for classical hitlerism (and it directly supported by all former Hitler’s coalition + colonial empires), another one against (and it supported by communistic countries). Incredible simple. No difference with 1940s.
2. Russia and US are two different poles.
A) First of all, Russians are Slavs. Slavs have only brown hairs and gray/brown eyes. It is in base DNA 😂 Slavs have no blue eyes — it is mixes mainly with scandinavians. Scandinavians are enemies, they a lot of times attacked country. Russia born as powerful Empire exactly after defeat Sweden, in own time most powerful military empire in Europe. Most of "blue eyes" it is ancestors of that troops which were captured (a lot after war left to live in Russia, especially those one who were sent to Siberia, they were too lazy to return back, 300 years ago it was no so easy). Blue eyes in Russia have near ~15%, most of that people even not mixes, but just non-Slavs — misc minorities :)
B) Nobody cares about such aspects. As described in ancient chronicles, Rus was founded as union of 5 tribes. 3 of that tribes were non Slavs. It is one of reason why in Russian culture from beginning was multi-race, nobody never cared about ethics, had no Slaves, when captured European ships with Africans, they were liberated. Founder of modern Russian language (200 years ago), greatest Russian poet was half black and nobles. Because even centuries ago it already have no point in Russia (and so funny to see, how it still is important in rest countries).
Also it is explains why Russia built first in world communistic state. Whole Cold War was exactly over this idea, Westerns tried to preserve own colonies, while Soviet defeat and liberate them all, from China to Angola.
3) This guy is mercenary from some private army consisted from similar mercenaries which have nothing common with real army. Before Russia came on help to those attacked states, they created several such groups. In Russia itself mercenaries are prohibited. Russian troops there nowadays — it is 640 thousands (mercenaries — just several thousands), over 90% of which are Slavs. So no, like in WW2, so now, main fighters are Russian Slavs, not some minorities.
