Good people on both sides? I remind what did one side:
— declared SS as own state heroes,
— declared criminals who participated in genocide of Polish, Belorussians, Russians, Jews, Gypsies as heroes,
— accepted nazi slogans, SS symbolics as official state,
— denied communists (being communist in country is criminal case, you have no right to fight for rights of workers),
They are classical nazis right from WW2 era. They a-priory can’t be ‘good people’, they are ‘evil people’.

@heikki3267 1. First so-called invasion — it is not Soviet Union. It is need to consider just as part of Civil War in Russian Empire (in result of which a lot Finnish people preferred to go into new Soviet Russia, when white/right won in Finland).
2. If Germans would win, I bet you also would never born, so forgot about our ‘common german language’ :D I’m as ethnic Polish 100% had no chances (because Slavic, most of my family were exterminated already back at that days), while you from German point of view also pity. Yep, north people, almost vikings, btw, non Germans, they would use you in same way as example a lot of south islamic nations. Just as meat. Of as they used Norwegians (protected Berlin until last hours, just meat to save more Germans when Reich already lost).
But actually Germany had no chances, even if Leningrad would fall. Without Leningrad Germans could also get Moscow, but only in theory (Soviets had fresh armies on south, protected oil fields from possibly attack of… British Empire).
Whole Lend-Lease in Soviet economic is just 8%. Moreover, first two years USSR de facto got nothing (in first year just on $500 thousands, lol), USA launched supplies when it became clear who will win and when USSR agreed to pay with gold. 8% is a lot of course, but not something that defined results of war.
3. “Molotov - Ribbentrop treaty” — and where you found common interests in it? It is actually document where were defined “red lines” for both countries, to not provoke war, because both considered each other as enemies. I will remind, that USSR few years tried to organize anti-Hitler coalition (and even sent army to help to Czechoslovakia, it was not passed by Romania and Poland, while France betrayed), last time in 1938 when invited all European countries to it, when everyone rejected — arrived this treaty.
Look at modern Europe, everything what happened, it is result of violation exactly of similar red lines. NATO promised that will not move to East, Russia believed and withdraw own army from Germany and rest points (moreover, moved it to Ural, thousands kilometers inside of own borders!). What did NATO? Yep, lied. Russia for a lot of years asked NATO to sign any borders and give guarantees of safety. NATO rejected… I don’t know, is it discussed in Finland, but at December 2021 Putin said, that “NATO must be returned back to own initial borders or Russia itself will solve this threat for self”. Looks like Russia tired to wait. Also, this is why everyone so surprised why Finland decide to join to NATO in such moment, when NATO right on edge of Armageddon (I visited Finland, it is of course a bit boring country, just because not a lot people, everything is small, but hey, this is not a best way to get fun! :D).
4. Voting? Nah! You forgot that everything started from ‘Kosovo precedent’ — they not voted! ;D And court of UN under pressure of Europe and USA said that it is legally. So no, modern world not need any votings.
But I get your joke and reference. I will explain, because you not understand context. In 2014 in Ukraine happened what? Yep, classical coup and violation of constitution. And people in South-East, they did this votings (referendums) not to show own wish to you (Finland/rest world), not because Russia asked (to show everyone, — “look, we did everything legally”). No. That people just show for self, that they are better than rest Ukraine (which preferred coup instead already declared new elections), that why they vote for everything (less known fact, at first year they even voted in courts what do to with each criminal — hypertrophied reaction).
