@adammak4791 Nah, even if it could be war, it would change nothing from Russian side. First of all, because main population there are ethnical Russians (it also explain why “defenders” exterminate everything, they not cares about this locals because not perceive them as own people). Secondly, different traditions of war. Soviets even against Third Reich not used such approaches which at same time used US and UK (they still use that cover bombings, as example Mosul several years ago, erased over 10k of houses together with citizens, in one city in few days died more civilians, than during this operation).
Moreover, in most European cities Soviet army limited self even with heavy guns, to preserve cities. If USSR would do what did US&UK, then whole Europe could be erased totally with majority of population. But European loses less than Soviet, both in people and infrastructure, because Soviet not accepted idea of ‘total war’. Soviets only during liberation of one Poland lost the same amount of people (600k), as US/UK in whole war. Because captured cities instead just erase like allies erased Dresden or Tokyo. It is easy to erase city, try to capture it.
Same example with defeated Napoleon and captured Paris. Allies proposed to rob city, Tsar not allowed and Russian forces even paid for self in French restaurants (compare what did France in Russia, used Churches as stables, rob and stole everything).
