Because when I last time investigated question (~5 years ago) about salaries in Europe by PPP, Russia had €2000 (else again — virtual by PPP) and it was a little above of middle salaries in EU, in ~1,7 times less than had Liechtenstein (no 1 in Europe) and in over two times more than had bottom countries, like Slovakia and rest. Also, anyway it is pointless comparison because PPP is calculated by very limited amount of goods. It ignored payments for medicine (regular and free in Russia surgery in such country as US can make from person — bankrupt), for apartments, not inckude a misc social stuff. As example payments for kids, when state give to kids possibility to visit cinema, museums and theaters for free and a lot of more. As example nobody in Russia take loan for education, while in US — nothing special, people pay for own education up to 30-35yo.
