@uilnosaj Nothing wonderful. Empires on own peak falls because living too good. Look at Rome Empire or even latest example — Soviet Union, all the same. Russian communists so believed in own utopia propaganda about internationalism, “brotherhood of workers” and peace everywhere, that even withdraw own armies from enemy countries, dissolved own country, thrown country to borders of 17 century. Read Gorbachev, he still is alive and even after all this 30 years still not figured what happened and what went wrong. He just week ago called to nuclear disarming of Russia. Facepalm. It is because he already for 50 years living in own parallel universe with pink ponies and rainbows. Modern China reminds USSR of 1970s, golden era, when all base requirements were solved (no poor, no homeless, free education, medicine, apartments, total safety), scientist and engineers each year made wonderful things (from landing on Venus to... yeah, Maglev trains), country rapidly went forward. While modern USA reminds late USSR somewhere of 1987 after own golden era. I’m sure same will happens with China, people everywhere is the same. Somewhere in 2040-50s maybe. Modern generation of Chinese know worst life, even Xi personally on own experience know famine, so they work hard. While kids already not know, kids which lived too good almost always destroy work of previous generations.

F-35 is not 5th gen a-priory, because it have one engine. With one engine you can’t produce 5th gen. Reason why USSR stopped production of own one engine jets as backward conception of jets (future one engine Su-75 is developed not by order of Russia, it is order of some foreign country and as said Russian Army, they unlikely will buy it for self, maybe only as UAV). F-22 is also not fit in all requirements, it is project which arrived as answers to Su-27. They failed to reach own goal, combat zone of Su-27 in two times more than F-22 have. In theory F-22 could arrive as good machine, but: — USSR was dissolved and US lost reasons to develop anything — They started Iraq-Afghan campaigns and had lack of money — Arrived promises about future cheap F-35 (in result it became incredible expensive, but promised were perfect).

This service (landing on Moon) is possibly to buy, Russia propose such service from late 1990s for any space tourist who wants. But nobody still bought, too expensive, people bought only trip to stations, Mir and now ISS.

Akimbo Soulassassin Americans de facto never created good space station similar to even old Soviets or things like Mir or ISS, they have no experience. So, why do you decide, they suddenly will create something? Of course they got access to lot of technologies regards to ISS, but anyway have no experience and it not means they can repeat. Space planes? And again — without experience... Russia similar station (with inspector satellites) tests already over decade, few generations of stations, while they with zero experience will create even more advanced... :/ Impossibly. They even still have no powerful sources of energy in space, as example Russia in 2018 created 1MWh nuclear space reactor (4MWh of heat energy), results of 9 years of development, while US still can’t repeat even weak reactors which 30 years ago produced USSR. If they will start now, in best way maybe only in 2040s will get something similar. Militarization of space is prohibited by international law. Moreover, US signed this agreement. If they will try, tomorrow over US in space will arrive thousands of Russian nukes.

@milk_chemistry Soviets used on own shuttle AI back in 20 century, even developed special new programming language which simplified process of AI development. During first flight when shuttle returned was huge wind and shuttle strangely changed course, everyone thought it will crash, but it landed successfully — AI included wind in own landing process. Very likely people would not land in that flight (without a lot of practice on simulators).

@milk_chemistry All space shuttle programs were closed else at Soviet times. Initially they arrived as part of defense program (together with military space stations, laser pistols, space machine guns and so on), but then was signed international act which prohibited weapons in space, so both US and USSR closed this direction of own programs. Then US launched program of huge space shuttles, promised cheap delivery of goods to space. USSR not believed to that, because it is much more expensive than rockets, so Soviets believed it is some hidden military program and also made own shuttle. But no, US really believed that shuttle will be cheaper. When USSR discovered that there are no any military program, it immediately closed own program of shuttle, it was closed even before officially finished, but developers continued it to first flights just for fun. US by unknown reason continued usage of shuttles, but later recognized it was hugest mistake in whole their space program and significant part of money they spent on this pointless thing. Program of shuttles also was closed and now they again returned to classical ships.

@dz7786 It is hard to imagine, firstly because production of Su-57 was increased in 2 times from last year (in Jan 2023 MoD signed additional contract and ordered more jets). Secondly because in Russia is deny for state developers to use any foreign parts, it is… crime. Typical example: in Su-57 developers decide to reject from usage of regular wire for communications between electronic parts and instead use optical fiber. Optical fiber from China exist in any shop in unlimited amounts. But it is foreign, Russia had no own production of optical fiber, so developers had no right to use it. What to do? Yep, they said “we need fiber” and state from ground built huge factory which produce optical fiber. But what we can imagine — it is shortage of F35, because US can’t produce F35 itself, they use parts from dozens countries. If somethings happen with some of that countries (e.g. in Europe), whole production will be stopped. I’m not sure, is US anytime had such conception as Russia, that economy must be autonomous?! They are capitalists, looks like never, they moved whole own production to China and rest.

Both USSR and USA made a lot of them of different design back in 1960-70s. Existed real planes — tiny one for one pilot, when countries thought about battle in spaces :) Prototypes of space fighters. Soviet also produced military space stations, tested special machine gun in space and even developed real laser pistol (for case if US will try to capture some of station).

It is irrelevant. Russian satellites extremely cheap, more than 3 times than American, but US not allow to other countries buy them.

It is not 6th gen fighter jets. Never believe to clickbait titles, it is only titles. One even not some fighter, just ordinary companion, with flying abilities abilities close to 3rd gen. There are still no list of approved requirements to technologies which jet need to have to became 6th gen fighter. So any mentions about 6th gen anywhere in world a-priory are fakes. While in already existed and approved part of list exist technologies which still non invented in world. So no, we will not see 6th gen at least for next 20 years (very likely even more). Also you can take list of requirements to 5th gen jets published back in 1980s and you will see than in China there are no any 5th gen, because there are no jet yet which have each obligatory requirement.

Interceptor? Back in 2015 in Russia was leaked engine for unknown jet which works both in air and space. Looks like from MiG-41.

Did they returned investments? USSR developed high speed trains but not launched any because… too expensive and unprofitable. Same story with supersonic civilian aircraft. USSR and then France developed and launched, but then both canceled — too expensive and unprofitable. US also developed, but even rejected to launch, impossibly to return investments.

Idk how fast is China, but Russian delivery to ISS — 3 hours. Delivery to home — 30 minutes for goods, 15 minutes for food.

Why not? USSR from 1970s did up to 100 launches per year, while it was huge and heave satellites because technologies was different, without modern tiny chips when one chip replace huge block of thousands components.
