  1. Alek Shukhevych Lol! half peace of soap :D Such things was true only after war for some years (because nazis exterminated cities and thousands of factories), but never later, moreover, card system for goods/food USSR canceled yearly than own system cancelled Britain (which de facto lost almost nothing in war and anyway failed to restore own economic faster). Lack of some goods happened in late years of USSR, mainly after perestroika, it is true, but only in state shops, not in markets where existed everything freely. It was result of low prices, so everyone could buy everything. And some people often bought more than need, so another left without goods. It is well known problem which still unclear how to solve in future, classical example: to village came truck with bread for whole village. Some peasant buy all this bread and feed with it own pigs. He bought all bread for own pigs because it cost nothing for him. From another side in shop is lack of bread for rest villagers. In your country all the same actually, but with one difference: exist class segregation, so when you see poor homeless people on streets, you not cares which amount of soap they can buy. They can’t buy even half of it, so you can buy whole. That why you consume more, because some one consume less, but you is parasite and not cares about rest. As example in modern US (richest country) more homeless kids than existed in USSR even after nazis invasion. This is ‘price’ for ‘soap’... But, Soviet Union in general destroyed western colonialism, rest parts of world got freedom, now they actively growing, becoming richer, world is changing, western countries becoming poorer. And yes, in almost each western countries modern generation living worse than previous. As example for US it is true from 1960s, each generation is poorer than previous (compare that times when husband could feed whole female, with modern situation when wife also working and family can’t survive without loans). West not surrender of course, that why it as example in 2011 attacked and destroyed Libya, stole whole it gold, bank accounts and continue to stole oil. Tried to get access to market of Ukraine and CIS countries, but failed. And so on. And it not help a lot, look at economical situation, a lot of countries already de facto bankrupts, EU still not restored even after 2008.

  2. Alek Shukhevych 1970s is golden era in whole history, nothing similar. Some troubles happened in 80s, true, I wrote about this above, times of perestroika. Moreover, as we know nowadays from memories of Gorbachev’s surround, especially from memories of Yakovlev, it was artificial troubles, they tried to destroy country. Yakovlev openly a lot of times told about this, how he did it, just read his interviews. As example Gorbachev limited trade between socialistic countries, forced everyone to use dollars. Imagine what will happen with any western country, if tomorrow in it will be deny/limited international trade with rest western countries and all trading will be for rubles (which nobody have and can’t get). Most of western countries will collapse immediately. Will be impossibly to produce Boing/Airbus, impossibly to produce computers, impossibly to produce most of food, thousands of factories will be closed, etc. It is exactly what happened at final stages of perestroika — short period of time when to power came capitalists and destroyed everything. It have nothing with USSR in general, it is results of capitalism, classical counter-revolution. Nowadays everywhere in post-Soviet countries of course much more goods in any shop. But exactly like in West, not everyone can buy anything of this. Millions in poverty. So, please, stop tell to us fake stories about ‘half peace of soap’, when nowadays in any Western country, from Greece to USA (except only tiny states like Monaco) exist awful poverty and else more people really can’t buy anything, even half peace of soap. And what the scariest, you even not perceive this part of nation as human, you ignoring them, they just not exist. In any Western countries nowadays is really some people can’t buy any goods at all, they have no houses, no future. But you prefer to tell fake stories about “scary USSR where people could buy only half peace of soap” (and forgot to mention, that also all got free apartments and perfect education — things which in any western county impossibly for near half of population, but for you such people just not exist, right, so no troubles?).
