KGB and FSB is absolutely different organizations, with different structures (FSB in 6 times less than KGB) and goals. And that’s why they have different names.
KGB — means “state safety” (economical, military, technological and political intelligence, special operations, ideology safety, defense of officials, etc.), while FSB means "federal safety" (criminal police, economical police, cyber police, anti-terror).
FSB is exactly like FBI. While KGB was similar to CIA.
