It's psychological warfare. A continuation of the divide and conquer strategy. By providing echo chambers for the various ideologies it pushes the ideologies further apart so they may never come together again. It's clever, I've been observing this for a while as individual ideologies are being sequestered in their individual and separate cloisters. The people don't know that they are being manipulated and that it's a trap.

@markcarey8426 , "The right"? Think about the Abrahamic religions, three main religions with thousands of sects that are all hopelessly divided. They have been doing this a very long time. A couple thousands years ago they figured out that it was easier to divide the people to keep them weak then it was to unite them to make them strong. So the people on top stay on top with reduced effort.
