  4. 7 min. In Video: & if a family law court does its usual screws to the father decision, that still doesn't mean in real life that either parent is better. It just means 1 parent secured more legal power over the child vs the other parent. The mom in Judge Judy's courtroom acts like that horrible sole custody award to her, actually means she the kids only parent. Which proves that even though they claim alimony isn't a big thing these days. That mom who looks at the kid as hers thus looks at the dad as owing her money so she can raise her kid. Meaning she sees child support 100% as her personal alimony paycheck. Which is why she'll demand way more support than the actual costs of solely maintaining the child. Sadly many men & alot of old judges feel support must include a full base stipend for the mother. Just a holdover from when it was a given that mom kept the kids in divorce and didn't have a job. One monolithic stereo type feeds the others continuance, & 1950s financial responsibility model stays the unspoken basis & actual driving factor in family courts rulings & the 12 divisions of assets & ancillary cost sharing ratios, from school activities insurance, transport, etc tacked on to noncustodial fathers obligation 70/30 or worse
