  10. The Russian election interference investigation produced thirty-something indictments of Trump associates. No charges were filed on Trump or his campaign because there has not been a "smoking gun" as evidence to recommend criminal charges. Perhaps this explains why Democrats need not feel embarrassed. It wasn't a hail Mary or a shot in the dark type investigation. It's like a homicide case where the detective has reason to believe person A had committed the crime, but there's not enough evidence or a smoking gun to arrest person A and charge him so the case is in a standstill.
