  1. When i worked in South Korea on a foreign assignment, i found out that many of the Koreans i worked with were also US Citizen because their mother gave birth to them in th US. They told me that it was a common practice to send preegnant daughters to the US so their babies would be US Citizens at birth. They would return to Korea with their new born US citizen. The reason for this was very practical. South Korea is continually worried about invasion from North Korea. Having US citizenship would give someone a way out if the North succeeded in takiing over South Korea.
