It is not the first time that Ukraine told everyone where they would counterattack. Ukraine said the first counterattack would be in Kherson and then pushed through the Kharkiv oblast. So this is the Second time that Ukraine publicly discussed their counterattack. Look how well those announcements worked out for those who believed the public statements.

@gravkocher5677 I was making a different point. The author of this blog said this counteroffensive is the first one that the Ukrainians discussed publicly and he implied it was foolish to do so. My point was that not only did they discuss a previous comment counterattack before this one, but all the talk was intended to draw attention away from the true position of the attack, and it worked. These milbloggers should stop acting like armchair generals, and devote their to reporting the situation without trying to second guess what will happen.

@gravkocher5677 I agree that there is good reason to suspect the numbers for either side. I was speaking purely about intention. Whatever numbers we might consider accurate, everyone agrees that the Ukrainians said they would attack Kherson and then advanced quickly in the Kharkiv Oblast. It was like a boxer who feints with the left hand to draw away from his right hand then hits with the right hand. So that was the first of the counteroffensive and it involved a static deception. Now we have a second counteroffensive and Ukraine seems to be doing a good job of making it look like they will attack everywhere and anywhere.
