A small suggestion about English vocabulary. When an attack fails we usually say the attacker was repelled or repulsed rather than defeated. To defeat something is quite definitive. If I defeat an attacker then that means the attacker has been sufficiently disabled that they will need time to gain strength to attack again. If I only prevented the attacker from moving forward but failed to push the attacker back beyond the attacker's initial position then I repelled the attack. The attack bounced off me so to speak. I did not defeat the attacker, I only at best defeated the attack as opposed to the attacker. Sometimes your reports confuse me because you say that one side defeated the other when what happened was that one side repelled the attack of the other. I do so appreciate that you give this reports in English, and I admire your ability to present them in English. My comment is intended to be constructive and to help improve your already quite excellent English.

@thehturt5480 Yeah, I thought about that when I wrote the comment. I considered adding that one side might win or lose a battle or suffer a defeat in a battle, but a skirmish loss is not a defeat. Now if you asked me how to set limits on what I would call a "skirmish" then I would be at a loss for words. It is like asking what is the difference between a pile and a heap? So being not quite right and not quite wrong is okay by me! :)

If the Ukrainians manage to get to the outskirts of Kherson then will the Russians destroy the dam on the Dneiper and flood Kherson? What do people watching this channel think will happen? Please don't say that Ukraine will never get to Kherson because that is the premise of my question. IF the Ukrainians get to the out skirts of Kherson; however unlikely that might be, then would the Russians destroy the dam and flood Kherson?

@kurtwicklund8901 "Bank" on it? Was that a bad pun?

One man's terrorist is another man's partisan. Ask the Russians if the partisans who killed German soldiers in German occupied area in the Second World War were terrorists or partisans? I should also add that a terrorist commits acts designed to terrorize a population such as suicide bombs or bombs in public gatherings as opposed to targeted assassinations. Ask yourself if the Irish Republican Army (IRA) was a terrorist organization or an army of rebellion. How about the soldiers who fought on the side of the American colonists, and who used guerrilla tactics? I would suggest that when it comes down to it a terrorist seeks to intimidate a population, and a partisan seeks the overthrow of an occupying power or invader.

There is also the term "significant" as in a "significant development" which also requires at least some brief explanation of what the significance is, and Dima does try to do that.

Keep in mind that they still have to distinguish the real HIMARS launch systems from the ones made of wood. They might need to use radar because a real HIMARS launch system would reflect radar while a wooden HIMARS launch system would not unless the wooden launch system had aluminum foil on the side walls. Of course using radar would be the kiss of death. Nothing makes oneself a target as well as turning on a light or lighting a cigarette.

@banjo1434 "Gave up" its sovereignty? Looks like they are taking back what was taken from them. You may need to check current events yourself.

@Messa1980 What do you call shooting at someone when you occupy a nuclear power plant? I should also note that any resistance effort acts from within a civilian population, which does nothing to excuse war crimes, crimes against humanity or atrocities.

@octowuss1888 Kherson was handed to the Russians by the pro-Russian mayor who gave them the keys to the city. What happened in Kherson is what Putin thought would happen all over Ukraine ... Welcome with bread and salt. However, the residents of Kherson have come to regret the actions of their mayor.

While the Ukrainians be allowed to campaign in the referendum, or will only the Russian perspective be presented to the electorate? By the way, who is allowed to vote? Only people who have accepted a Russian passport when they were ordered to surrender their Ukrainian passport and to take a Russian passport to replace it?

@candykane4271 That was the case in the Russian attempt in the past but the Ukrainians had the Russians on the run, knew the area better, and probably did not try to cross in force initially, but increased the force as they pushed ahead.

@quantumresonance8201 I suggest you watch this video "The Fallen of World War II" https://youtu.be/DwKPFT-RioU You might find this useful to give an example of what Russia was prepared to do inn the past: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_the_Seelow_Heights
