@Luredreier Stop pushing your fossil fuel NOW! Just stop selling it!! Continuing to sell fossil fuels while you preach environmentalism and sustainable technology is the height of hypocrisy.

@Luredreier I found what you had to say fascinating. As you might expect, I have very little knowledge of Norwegian politics except what I get from watching "Occupied" which is like trying to learn American politics by watching "House of Cards" in the American version, or trying to learn UK politics from watching the original "House of Cards". What I found most interesting in what you said is that most Norwegians know exactly what they are doing, and simply deceive themselves about. Foolishly, I thought only people living in the US were capable of such breath-taking self-deception. I am now reminded once again that people really are the same all over this planet. I really do seriously consider that the only way to effect real climate change will require reducing the population.

@Luredreier As I thought more about it, I realized that the flaw in the video is to assume that corruption somehow stops are a country's borders. If we think of corruption as small group benefiting from harm to a larger group then any country which benefits from supplying fossils fuels to other countries is enriching themselves while damaging the environment of others as well as themselves. To day that Norway has avoided corruption from oil revenue completely misses the point. Any group of people, a nation or the share holders of oil company are engaging in a corrupt activity because they are enriching themselves in the short run while harming everyone, including themselves, in the long run.

@Luredreier I thought my disparaging comments applied far more broadly, which is why I took pain to include my own country in my critiques. I am a US citizen and I think that qualifies me and permits me to critique my nation's behavior in just about anyway I think correct. I know quite a bit about the USA. Thank you very much.

@Luredreier Please read what I said more carefully. My comment was cast more broadly than Norway.

@Luredreier I think you thoroughly misunderstood my comment about corruption. I was pointing out that ANY case of the few benefiting at the expense of the many is corruption. Most forms of corruption are oligarchic, but an oligarchy could cross national borders where one country gets wealthy by impoverishing other countries. It is a form of exploitation such as England conducted in the Opium Wars. Place current situations in a larger historical context then look for the correspondences and differences.

@matthiashrafnkelsson2180 You use methods of storing the energy output in low demand periods. You can use "gravity batteries" or pump the water into reservoirs as hydro plants do, charge electrical batteries or store the heat using some material with a high specific heat. Then at times of peak usage you use the energy stored in whatever way you chose to feed power directly into the power grid or to produce steam and drive steam turbines to produce electricity or whatever electric power generation method fits the method you used to store energy in times of low demand.

@Asgath I thought battering fish was considered assault or some kind of animal cruelty. We need to let the RSPCA know immediately!

The most disturbing aspect about the oil revenue that Norway has is that Norway presents itself as the greenest nation on Earth with the highest percentage of electric car ownership, and leaders in how to live with a small carbon footprint. Yet all the while Norway profits from selling fossil fuels. If Norway wants to be a responsible global citizen then stop acting as a fossil fuel drug pusher, and simply stop selling oil. I wonder how that would go down with the Norwegians?
