Don't you just love propaganda from any country? You can almost invariably take what is said and apply it to the country speaking.

In 1984 Oceania was never identified with any country. Neither was Eurasia nor Eastasia identified with any specific country. What was identified was "IngSoc" which was English Socialism. Now "IngSoc" never developed along the lines that Orwell described in 1984. However, there is a Socialist country that did evolve as Orwell imagined, completely with a surveillance system that tracked all people in the society, and with "Big Brother" who is a Paramount Leader revered by the people. Orwell was a visionary, but what he envisioned in 1984 describes China ruled by the CCP more than it does the US or Europe.

@catonpillow okay give me the reference for the boundaries of Oceania. Keep in mind that an important part of 1984 was that "England" had switched it's allegiances numerous times between Oceania and Eurasia It was the job of the Minister of Truth to rewrite history to remove any trace of the previous alliance, and to represent whatever current alliance was as if it had always been that way. You might want to read 1984 again. Personally, I reread it at least once every ten years, but usually more often. I probably read "Animal Farm" more often.
