  1. I am very much enjoying your Japan trip and reactions. I am married to a Japanese, and our children are bilingual and bicultural. As you might imagine I have visited Japan numerous times over the past thirty years, and your reactions match those of many gaijin like me which makes me chuckle. We also live in upstate NY, but close enough to visit NY City easily. I must share my sushi story with you. On one of my first visits to Japan I went to sushi restaurant with friends, and I asked them where to get the best sushi. They looked at me as if I had lost my mind, and they said, "New York City." Needless to say that stunned me, and I asked why. They reminded me that sushi is raw fish; therefore, cooking has nothing to do with quality of the sushi. The quality of the sushi depends completely on the quality of the fish, and best fish for sushi comes from the Grand Bank Fishery off the coast of Northeastern US and Canada. The sushi restaurants in New York City serve sushi made from fish from Grand Banks. If I wanted the best sushi then just go to a sushi restaurant in New York City. So I have to take exception to the title of this video. No offense I hope. :-)
