@semilog643 my dad was a cryogenic physicist who specialized in superconductivity. He and his team designed the magnets for containing the plasma in the experimental fusion reactor at Oak Ridge. His interest in superconductivity meant that he was also interested in liquid helium, which is a superfluid that does exhibit macroscopic quantum effects. For example if you have a dewar vessel filled with liquid helium and you start spinning the vessel you can watch the speed of the rotation of the liquid helium speed up in increments rather than smoothly. You can see the increasing rotational speed of the dewar vessel but the liquid helium remains rotating at a slower speed and then in an instant the liquid helium will begin rotate at a higher speed. My father had a good sense of humor, but none of those jokes would have made him laugh. In fact the whole plasma is the fourth state of matter always elicited a sigh of resignation from my dad. I suppose when every thing you work on is at least below of boiling point of liquid nitrogen at -195 Celsius, and the real focus of your study is a material within 2 to 3 degrees of Absolute Zero then someone making jokes about plasma sounds more like someone just talking about something that irrelevant.
