@Grizathvili WTH does that mean? How does someone "fall short on a chess board"? You need to unmix your metaphors if anyone is going to understand what you say.

@LeonidKalesnik I am an American who married a Japanese woman, and we have children. My children are inheritors of the only nation who used a nuclear weapon on another nation, and the only nation who had a nuclear weapon on it by another nation. Would you like to have a conversation with me about nuclear weapons? If you lack any connection with the use of nuclear weapons then I suggest you keep your mouth shut.

I fully expect the Russians will use a battlefield, theatre nuclear weapon, and for precisely out of desperation as you described. Also, the Russians have a breathtaking indifference to the lethal effects of radiation as we can see from how they had their troops act within the Chernobyl exclusion zone. Those poor soldiers are dead men walking, and all because of Putin. Russia has long thought that a nuclear war is winnable. I wish we had a Nikita Khrushchev in the Kremlin rather than a Stalin. These days I have been thinking about what could be proportionate retaliation for Russia using a nuclear weapon. My only idea would be using a nuclear weapon on Snake Island, naval base, now occupied only Russian troops. Snake Island is part of Ukraine as opposed to part of Russia. The casualties would be Russian rather that Ukrainian. Close consultation with Ukraine and Romania would be necessary before taking such an action, but those discussions might be already underway. The escalation could easily stop there, and I hope it would. In fact, I hope it never comes to that.

@Grizathvili Exactly, what I expect a troll to say. Thank you for confirming my expectation.

@АллаШуманская Oh Please. "We have BIGGEST is a silly reply." Just takes one strategic ICBM to cause a retaliatory strike. Both Russian and the US have enough nuclear weapons to destroy the world many times over. Biggest makes no difference. We all have enough to destroy mankind.

@АллаШуманская Did you read my entire reply? That is what I said.

Gbit Vid oh I can handle quite a number of views that differ from my own, but glib comments about the use of nuclear are something I can not tolerate. Especially glib comments about the use of nuclear weapons against Japan by the US. Given your background, I am curious about your views. I won't trouble me if they are different from mine. Incidentally I never mentioned my views in that reply

@Grizathvili Chomsky and Brzezinski I take seriously Meirsheimer is an apologist for Russian aggression, and Kissinger holds onto antiquated Cold War policies.

@Grizathvili This Russian aggression is the dying gasp of a declining and moribund ex global power. For all the atrocities committed by the British Empire, they are least excited the stage of being a global power without lashing out at their previous colonies. Would that the Russians could conduct themselves as honorably, but it seems impossible for them to do so. Or I should say that Putin has brought the dishonor on Russia.

@Grizathvili I should further add that nuclear war never will have winners because everyone loses. The question is whether Russia will require the World to lose just so the Russians can avoid saying they lost. I fully expect the Putin will use a tactical nuclear weapon and I shudder to think what the response will be. I hope NATO keeps the response conventional rather than nuclear, but you know there will be a response.
