  1. The question isn't will capitalism end. Capitalism is going to end, just like every system before it, and social democracy assumes capitalism. The question is what will replace it. It can either be something worse, like a kind of corporate, neofeudal fascism, or it could be better, like anarcho-communism.

  2. I've always liked Kropotkin's answer in his essay, Are We Good Enough? If we really are so bad as to unworthy of communism, what is the point of perpetuating a system that only exacerbates those bad tendencies? Doesn't it make more sense to create a system that promotes the good aspects of our nature and discourages (or at least doesn't reward) the bad?

  3. Capitalism is by definition non-sustainable. It's characterized by infinite growth in a finite system. Eventually the planet is going to hit a breaking point; we're already seeing strong signs of that. The idea that social ownership leads to lower motivation is bs. It's been shown that people are more likely to do onerous tasks when offered greater rewards but that those rewards can hamper creative work. Social ownership may also entail a different work paradigm. Sure, if your only job is picking up garbage, eventually you're not going to feel motivated. It's not empowering work. But if you have a balanced work profile, and can do some empowering work here and there, then I don't think you're going to have the same sorts of problems with motivation. Also, because there's no private property in a communist society there would be no entrepreneurialism, period.

  4. There's some precedent for considering the anarchist "state." I think Malatesta writes about it this way. It obviously doesn't mean the same as the bourgeois state. It's more like a shorthand for organization or system or federation.

  8. Yeah, that should be foremost. In addition, taking the opportunity to talk about things like the right to healthcare can be a way to open up a dialogue about other ways of humanizing our society. If healthcare is a right, what about housing, food, etc.? It starts to disengage people from the consumerist/capitalist mindset that the human realm is always at the mercy of buying power.
