  1. It depends on what you mean by "based," because in a very real sense the idea of an IQ test was founded on racist assumptions. The major problem with the modern IQ test is that it doesn't test your intelligence. It tests how good you are at taking an IQ test and whether you possess certain abstract skills prized by elites, vocabulary, analogical and spatial reasoning, etc. IQ tests therefore reflect power structures, and since racism is a system of dominance that has inflected itself throughout society, it's not surprising to find that IQ tests are racially biased. The ugly truth of meritocratic rituals like IQ testing is that they exist not to reward real merit, but to reward complicity in reproducing the dominant power structure.
