Pick up any day's paper and you'll find a few examples. Emma picked that example because she was asked on the spot and it's a glaring case of non-left bias.

@DammitCartman It's an incredibly biased paper. It's just biased in a way that you've grown comfortable with. This bias leads the NYT to not only skew real facts but, as Emma points out, to cover false facts and stories as if they were true, with devastating consequences.

@jonny b Then throw that reactionary garbage in the trash and read Malatesta.

This is precisely the problem, the notion of news as objective or without bias, when in reality no such thing can exist, and that's obvious if you think about it for more than two seconds. The NYT built its reputation on its "objectivity." We can recognize the obvious need for getting basic facts right while also acknowledging that facts aren't everything. Perspective is inherent to the process, even in just what gets selected as newsworthy. The communications theorist CE Baker points out that the objective model of news is historically rooted in the advertisement model, which encourages papers to seek a "neutral" audience with universally appealing, business-friendly stories while neglecting others the community may find valuable.

It's not neutral at all. What would that even mean?

@baccusolypus234 I never said what you're quoting.
1
@baccusolypus234 Praising a news organization for being "neutral" is childish and shallow.

@itsnotonepieceitsthatpiece Not sure the Posadists, third worldists, hoxhaists, etc. would agree.
