  1. I've tried reasoning with some of these anti-mask people, and it's impossible. There's always some new piece of cherry-picked evidence, some new faulty line of reasoning, straw man, misconception, misrepresentation, tangent, tu quoque, junk science, propaganda, or errant reading for them to retreat to. I think for a lot of them the only way they'll learn is the same way conservatives have to learn anything: it has to first negatively impact them or someone they know and love.

  5. That doesn't make any sense. I'm sorry you're in that position. It's hard enough to get the kids to wear the masks properly (or adults, for that matter) without adding nonsensical guidelines like that.

  8. I've seen a lot of anti-maskers arguing based on a few cherry-picked studies of influenza. But as you point out, viral load is an important factor, and we don't yet know what that is for this SARS strain. Reducing exposure to viral load is an obvious precaution, one that only works well when everyone wears a mask.
