Comments by "Harry Stoddard" (@HarryS77) on "Trump Says He Wants BIGGER Stimulus Than Pelosi" video.
Necro-mitts McConnell has already said his 500b will not include a new round of checks.

Trump was saying he wanted a bigger bill even before Dore went on...so there's no correlation and no causation.

@Jono Holmes Exactly.

They're passing in the House what they know the Senate will never agree to. Pelosi and McConnell are playing chicken with American lives in order to gain ground in the election. If Pelosi wanted to both pass a bill and make the Republicans look bad, she could've passed a stimulus check bill and either taken credit for getting relief to people or made the Senate Republicans look like monsters for rejecting even that with no chance to deflect to funding "Democratic states" or whatever. Then, with Trimp out of office and maybe even a Senate majority, they could work on passing the rest of the stimulus package.

@RoderickEtheria False.

1) Because the GOP don't give a fuck. When pressure gets put on them, they say Democrats want unnecessary, wasteful spending, and deflect, deflect, deflect. 2) Pelosi could call the bluff and pass a basic stimulus bill with checks and one or two other things, forcing the Republicans' hands, and pass a more comprehensive bill after inauguration. Instead, she keeps trying the same failed strategy over and over. We know the Republicans are political extortionists and that this isn't really the Democrats' fault. If anything, their bill is too modest. Other countries have been doing much more. But she's playing into this extortion scheme. Now McConnell is saying he'll only support a $500b bill with no checks.

@TheNightowl001 What you may not have figured out yet is that the Republicans are increasingly not Trump's Republicans. They see his polling numbers. They see how extra bizarre his behavior has been. They're jumping ship. Trump has been tweeting about a big huge stimulus; meanwhile McConnell and the Senate are chopping their proposal to the bone. There is no coherence between those two factions of the party, and McConnell is not deferring to Trump for leadership. Negotiating with Trump isn't going to do anything if Republicans don't think their careers depend on supporting him.
