  2. +chamboyette853 I think the Obama/Hillary race poisoned a lot of people against the viability of progressive ideas, especially since Obama's progressive rhetoric turned out to be so hollow. One minute I'd hear someone call Sanders a snake oil salesman who makes all kinds of impossible promises for free this and that, and the next I'd hear about how imperative and feasible it is to have a single payer system. But the second you associated Sanders with single payer, the later became untenable for a lot of Hillary people. There was a level of cognitive dissonance in the Democratic base that the contentious, position-entrenching format of a primary was ill-suited to rectify.
