  2. So let me get this straight, we have a republican democracy, or popular sovereignty through elite representation. That means that however indirectly and incompletely, the electorate is in someway coextensive with the government. At least that's the theory, government by and for the People. Paul Ryan is saying that government healthcare gives the government too much power over our lives, which is sort of like saying that it gives the people too much power over their own lives. I'm positive that's what Ryan really means and believes.
