  2. socialism-rocks makes an excellent point. The whole logic of stockpiling nuclear weapons is that they serve as a deterrent for would-be invaders. But if that's true, then why did our military defense balloon even after we had said nukes? If we have an unstoppable army, why have nukes?

  3. socialism-rocks I don't really understand exactly how we payed for those wars, but my understanding is that we did it in part by selling bonds. So that wasn't money that was just laying around to be spent on other things. I'm probably wrong though.

  4. And the highest paid public employee in virtually every state? A football or basketball coach. Really tells you where are priorities are as a society and how misguided is our concept of value.
