I think it has something to do with the fact that democratic voters tend to belong to lower turnout populations, namely the young and minorities, so Democratic politicians feel insecure peddling their neoliberalism. The Republicans, however, can rely on their base of older, white evangelicals, an alliance that wasn't even seriously questioned when Romney, a Mormon, ran. In fact, Romney earned 1 million more votes than McCain.
However, there is currently one instance of the "vote stealing" narrative on the right, Evan or Ethan whatever-his-name-is in Utah. You know, the puppet of the Mormon mob/ shadow-cabal...
Have you noticed that no one blames the 300,000 Democratic Floridians who voted for Bush? Somehow Bush didn't "steal" those votes. In other words, that shift, the shift to the right, is legitimate and shouldn't be questioned, but the shift to the left, toward labor, toward anti-corporatism—that is illegitimate and has to be stomped down.
