Like most establishment figures' positions on war and foreign policy, Biden's stance on the war in Yemen is not the "correct" position. It's better than Trump's, no doubt, but it falls short. Biden criticizes the Saudi's "conduct of the war in Yemen," not the notion of a waging a brutal, unnecessary war in the first place which, let's not forget, the Obama administration abetted while imposing certain restrictions and which was, even before Trump, causing one of the worst modern humanitarian crises and on the verge of causing the worst famine in decades. How does Biden's statement signal anything more than a return to the Obama era status quo in which the Saudi's are allowed their war so long as they "conduct" it in the proper manner?
This is the refrain heard over and over: this or that war was a mistake, it was costly, it wasn't executed correctly, etc. What you won't hear is that war is a moral failure and, except in situations of legitimate self-defense, always wrong. Biden ("Make America Moral Again") is not going to say that, but that is the truly correct position.
