  2.  @MiltonRoe  Actually the mRNA platform received considerable federal funding through the NIH and public universities. In addition, the federal government granted immunity to drug companies in order to expedite the process, something that's almost unheard of. So this wasn't all the doing of intrepid drug companies. They benefited from publicly funded basic research—essentially subsidizing their R&D—and stepped in at the last minute.

  3.  @matthewarnold4557  Really? These people are victims? How is small-business-tyrant-Trump-fanatic a victim? We may deplore the effect this ideology has on people's thinking, the depletion of their basic empathy, etc., but these people are the winners of the system.
