I've seen flat earthers argue that the Himowari is fake because it takes composite images. Any proof you give them they can twist into a conspiracy.

@Tjalve70 Even the Tunguska event left no crater, and that object was probably 5-6 times as large as the one here, releasing about 15 megatons of energy.

I'm no expert, but this image is zoomed in on a small part of Earth's surface, so you're not getting a good size comparison, and there's also probably an issue with the perspective combined with the fact that, because there's no atmosphere in space, distant objects appear clearer and therefore closer than what we'd expect to see on Earth.

It would've burned up in the atmosphere, probably harming no one. Even the Chelyabinks meteor, which was about 4x times as powerful as this one, mostly burned up and left a small hole in a lake.
