The thought of NATO soldiers or hardware on their border is about as threatening as your neighbor owning a gun, the gun is only as dangerous as your neighbor is violent and unstable. NATO never planned to attack russia and if the US or any other NATO member ever tried to attack russia many NATO members would have imidiatly dropped out of the defensive pact and refused to help.

I would hope that the UN would send peacekeeping forces they won't be too effective but at least They can help combat Russians who are attacking civilians

@davidmilton5887 yes America has been working on NATO for decades, but putin attacking Ukraine is what's driving NATO's popularity. Before the invasion NATO members were starting to question why NATO should continue to exist, putin validated NATO's existence.

@diegoa3817 you can't go starting war based on hypotheticals, if that was the status quo the whole world would constantly be at war due to paranoia about their neighbors. Even if NATO was planning to attack russia, russia can't just go starting wars and annexing land as a preemptive strike without proper evidence that NATO was planning to invade. That's like me attacking my neighbor because I think he's sleeping with my wife, I don't got any evidence but the thought alone is good enough for me to kill him; my excuse just is not going hold up when I try to explain it to people, everyone is going to think I'm the bad guy

@privatepilot4064 your right there is no strategical advantage to attacking civilians, and yet the russian are doing exactly that because some of them are just cruel, just like that US soldier that ordered civilians on mopeds to be killed in the middle east because he simply hated anyone from that region. Dispite around 30 of his subordinates saying he gave those orders the trump administration praised him as a hero, one of those 30 subordinates was a trump supporter who believed the president was being fooled because he couldn't believe the guy he voted for was praising such a horrible person. I used to be a conspiracy theorist like you, but then I started questioning the theories I was being fed just like I was questioning the media; there are bad people in the world there are bad people in the US, but there are also bad people abroad who would love nothing more than for you to believe their lies and turn on the nation you call home as your nation is their enemy and any instability they can cause through you is a win. You should question what everyone tells you, but be careful when doing so otherwise you'll end up believing no one and isolate yourself, or worse, play right into their hands. Remember, every nation has a department dedicated to tricking you, don't feel ashamed about being tricked, when its someone's job to trick you they get really good at manipulation, misinforming, and lying.

@diegoa3817 because many members of NATO like Germany would not have approved, germany didn't want to have to deviate from russian gas and is only doing so now due to russia attacking Ukraine. But even if NATO planed to attack, being the 1st to attack would make you the villain in history. In general the western European countries don't want war because it would disrupt their comfy capitalist lives and make things harder for their every day citizens, Europeans don't choose war as their first option many of them use it as a last resort.

@davidmilton5887 The reason the Ukrainians don't come out of the cities is because the cities are The most defensible areas; Ukraine has tried many times to negotiate a temporary ceasefire to let all the civilians escape discussing discussing pathways that civilians can use to escape that should not be attacked during the ceasefire, But literally hours after the cease fires are negotiated Russia starts attacking those pathways full of civilians full of civilians forcing many of them to stay in the cities with the soldiers Because there are afraid of being attacked on the open road. There is even footage of a sky news crew crew from Australia being attacked by Russian forces while driving down the road in their car, They try to tell them in Russian that they are war reporters But despite the news reporters not firing back a single time the the Russians continued to shoot them and they had to make a mad dash For safety.

@C Right so your of the mindset that might makes right, I guess if the US and it's allies attacks russia then russia should just give up and let the US take them over. NATO has never threatened war with russia, putin is fabricating this crisis to create a reason to invade Ukraine. NATO is a defensive alliance that has never started a war only responded to being attacked, NATO has always promised security to russia so long as russia doesn't attack first. Putin is just angry that he's losing the popularity game and is taking land by force to install puppet allies.

This order isn't going to effect anythibg, the UN isn't going to send a military to enforce it.
