  1. I highly doubt the US would default on it's debt, I think it would enter negotiations with creditors to have interest reduced or halted so the US can pay down the principle easier. No one wants all the money they invested to just disappear, every lender would rather halt all interest to get their initial investment back than to just let the US keep it.

  2.  @grimaffiliations3671  you don't seem to understand that the US borrows money from other nations as well as the IMF. Those lenders are the ones that set the interest rates.
