  1. This would work if not for three reasons geopolitics, price gouging, and wars. The owners of the land or people of the area could just charge exorbitant prices and if ever a war broke out the first thing any government would do is sever the enemies connection to the power grid. And a worst case scenario someone could just destroy the solar panels forcing every nation without a swift backup plan into electrical darkness.
