Makes you wonder why the Russians are leaving by the thousands 😂 You guys live in a parallel reality.

@cobrakaineverdies4589 There's even a Wikipedia article on it 🤣 Mostly EU but many other places - Georgia, US, etc.

This is what many will say in the coming months when they only eat potatoes, "this is BS."

Anyone who knows a little bit about economics is aware of the fact that looking at how a currency is traded in international markets is far from enough to determine the performance of a national economy. The ruble has not become the rubble yet because, among others, Russia is running a 15% trade surplus since they have been unable to import many basic goods and components. This has pushed the value of the ruble up. But of course, it will also have very dire consequences for the economy as a whole. In fact, we can expect to see a 7% to 15% contraction in GDP this year. It will be ugly.

We have high inflation, but things really ain't so bad over here 😉

The volume of gas which is delivered through that one pipeline is insignificant compared to what was being sent to the EU daily. It is not wise to compromise the relationship with your best customer, especially when you won't be able to make up for the loss in revenue.

Basic supermarket products are important I guess, but it is not just about that. It is primarily about the parts, technology and components that allow Russia to fix its planes, to keep its hydrocarbon facilities running, to keep its hospitals stocked, to be able to transfer money and make purchases, to export heavy industry products etc.

@yttean98 There are limits on how far these markets can get you, though.

@cobrakaineverdies4589 Do you want some other resources or would you rather live in blissful ignorance? (:

@cobrakaineverdies4589 I don't care where you are from, we are debating a topic and who we are as people should not matter. "Mad at my country" - you don't even know where I am from. Again, as to the question at hand, Russians have left by the thousands, and many won't come back. If you choose to disregard that, that's fine by me, but it won't make it any less true.

@cristitanase6130 There's been a significant exodus of Russians due to the increasingly sick domestic climate and the war in Ukraine. Many of these people are highly skilled. This is called 'brain drain' and is a fact. Period. If you want other sources, I could send them your way, but I won't bother because you are going to call them fake news either way 🤷♂️

@Светлана-ф4с8н Your president wants to intimidate people into staying and supporting the war by calling those who leave and disagree traitors and bugs. Sad. In any case, that does not take away from the fact that brain drain is real and that many Russians are fleeing what's becoming an increasingly authoritarian country where many prefer not to live. Look it up, I am not inventing everything (:

@Светлана-ф4с8н All I have said are simple facts that can be verified, it is not my fault that you want to live in denial.

@cobrakaineverdies4589 Why do you put words in my mouth I did not say? That's lame.

@cheapsheap6793 Georgian estimates suggest that 30,000 Russians entered the country during the early weeks of the war and that 12,000 stayed. Those are just the figures for Georgia. But if you want to live in lalaland, be my guest.

@Светлана-ф4с8н It is Russia who is killing combatants and civilians in Ukraine, not my government. Your president had the choice not to commit this crime but decided to go ahead either way. Just like you - you have the choice to be critical of this s-show and here you are supporting the murderous actions of your pariah state.
