We will get through this. There will be hardships and a minor recession, but we will get through this. We will come out stronger and less dependent on Russia. As to Russia, brace yourselves for the third quarter. The reckoning is coming for you as well.

@cryptoworld465 We don't have bots paid for by the government in Germany. If you claim we do, please provide a source, I will be waiting patiently.

@erniebell1858 No shame in being a former comedian. Much better than the war criminal sitting in the Kremlin.

Everyone tried to talk to Putin so he would not invade. Everyone visited Moscow so he did not invade. We have tried to keep him happy for years. It did not work.

@fishlivesmatter Industrial output will hurt, but Europeans will have enough hydrocarbons to keep warm at home. A bit of research goes a long way (:

@akon360 They are an unreliable supplier and they have demonstrated it to everyone by now. Europe will hurt, for sure, but they will move away from relying so heavily on Russian gas. Everyone laughs at Europe now, but what about Russia? Europe is their best costumer, among others, because the infrastructure was built over the decades. Russia barely has enough pipes and terminals to export gas/liquified gas to other markets. Some of that is being built, but it will take many years, some of that infrastructure needs Western technology (which they won't be able to import) and the Chinese as well as other nations will not become too dependent on Russian hydrocarbons because they know how they operate. Russia is shooting herself on the foot with this move.

@Traiano Wellcome Bollocks. Do some research and see how many suffered from hypothermia and frostbite in March/April.

"Don't trust Russia" is the take home message.

@jptrainor Let me guess. Z supporters are right and enlightened creatures whereas those who oppose the Tsar's new vision for Europe are mad and ideologically possessed. Is that a good assessment, "Jim"?

Hans Otto Kroeger Kaethler Europe pays for the gas that it receives in the currency the contract clearly stipulated. Russia fails to deliver because they are "fixing" the pipelines. It is very likely that they will continue to "fix" the pipelines indefinitely. Who is in breach of the contract?

@reins8053 This is ALWAYS omitted in the conversation, but it is the elephant in the room. If Russia's economy is already struggling (and will really struggle in the coming months), I can't imagine how badly it will hurt if it has none or barely any of the revenues that it obtains from selling gas to Europe (gas which they can't really sell to other buyers - only in very limited quantities - because they don't have the infrastructure).

@MK-cg9um The rest of Europe was happy to collaborate with Russia up until Putin decided to ravage Ukraine. If this is happening it is because we trusted Russia too much. Had we diversified our energy sources and been more skeptical of our neighbor to the east and their intentions, we would not find ourselves in this situation.

@kabirchy3105 No, that's a really terrible hot take. Read more, please.

If the goal is to catapult Russia into the 1950s, then I guess you are right? It must be the Soviet nostalgia. Poverty, brain drain, further repression and isolationism don't sound so good to me tbh but I guess to each their own!

@oldcat1790 Gazprom. The turbine issue cannot be fixed unless they provide the necessary customs forms.
2
@crusadinghours3505 The current infrastructure that they have does not allow Russia to sell gas to other markets in large quantities.

@erniebell1858 Perhaps smarter, but a better man? No way, Jose.

This has not backfired by any means. We were all expecting Russia to cut the gas supplies at some point. Sometimes doing the right thing is hard but it always pays off in the end (:

This is happening in our backyard and affecting all of us. Russia dared bring large scale war in our continent again. We can't sit idle while they destroy Ukraine and while the effects reverberate across Europe.
