They decided to shoot themselves in the foot. Now, consequences start appearing. And they won't be small if UK chooses the No deal Brexit. They got far more to lose than the EU or the rest of the world in this situation, so they should play nice for their own benefit, or not, at their own peril.

@DD-zd9lw I am not a remainer. I am not British. I am simply looking at the numbers that represent the economic drivers of UK, and the results are not stacked in their favor for such a hard negotiation. This effect will trickle down on all people living there. Food is going to become more expensive and scarce, medication too, some firms will go bust or will have to contract themselves, leading to more people losing their jobs, while at the same time less young or adult people being able to get one. And on top of the cake, sits a massive national debt. Those 30 some billion pounds might provide some cushion, but they will dwindle quickly and if the UK exits with no deal, they might have at most 3 to 5 years to renegotiate until things start going very very bad for them.

@Yorkshire Lad By enacting a hard border with Ireland, UK will violate the Green Friday Agreement, which is an international agreement. What will happen next is international sanctions, especially trade sanctions, which is something I presume UK does not want, as almost 1 third of their imports are coming from the EU.
