They want to remotely monitor so they can download over the network everything you printed. I'm willing to bet my balls they have embedded software and hardware in there that makes little copies of EVERYTHING you print or scan, then, on a daily basis, sends over the network everything you printed. That printer is not a printer, it's a surveillance device. Avoid it at all cost.
