Yeah, I said the second half along with him and laughed, clever line.

@BatCaveOz No mate he's not. There are a lot of Robinson wood screws here in OZ nowadays. It's the defacto standard for decking screws for example. You will only find internal hex on things like batten screws.

@GermanShepherd1983 Look I'm no Trump fanboi but what he meant is mechanical raking with machinery which is quite a normal forestry practice in some countries including Finland. Indeed removing fine fuels is critical to fire mitergation.

Robertson are the defacto standard here in Australia for decking screws and are used by some furniture makers. Personally I love them for timber work at least. I don't think I've ever seen metal thread ones here.

@batman39400 JIS were great but are now a legacy standard, they hardly make any these days and are not used by any large manufacturer. They were the norm on Japanese bikes in particular and far5 outperform Phillips. Plus, they came with those great impact drivers.

@mikeking7470 OK, I've probably unscrewed 1000s of them and never noticed it wasn't a Phillips. I only have the standard 3-driver JIS set that is the equivalent of Phillips #1,2 and 3 for motorcycles and some cars. They should have taken over IMHO.

@allencummings7564 You can't hand drive the screws on a 2000 +screw deck, mate. It's just not feasible.
2
@allencummings7564 yes, screwguns have adjustable torque settings to do just that.

So, bologna is much the same as luncheon meat/luncheon sausage in the UK and Australia?

Face it Rest of the World, "right of way" makes sense.

Cloth tape isn't technically duct tape, it's gaffer, duck or race tape. Duct tape is a plastic or aluminized tape (two different types). Different tape, different uses. NASA's version (grey tape) is a highly developed type of duck tape with an adhesive that works in high and low-temperature environments as well as in a vacuum (which has quite the effect on a lot of sticky stuff). This is the best, most complete history of the stuff I've ever seen.

You seriously did a program on lawns and mowing them without mentioning Victa? Shame on you!

@AnEverydayBureaucrat Not any longer but yes we used to. the Robertson become the norm here (AUS) for decking screws about 5 or 6 years ago and we never looked back.
