  3. Sam, I don't know who wrote that but as a firefighter of almost 30 years, I can say it was the best short explanation of how firefighting works I have ever heard. I would not at all be surprised to find it used at fire academies as the first thing on the first day of a new intake's course. Very well done to whoever both wrote and researched this.

  7. Same here in Australia, we use "green bags" made of nonwoven recycled plastic cloth now (costs a dollar, and when it finally dies you take it back and they give you a new one, free). We have also banned the use of single-use plastic dinnerware such as plates, bowls, knives, forks, cups etc, and recently, drinking straws went the same way. The world didn't end, no one died.

Many people find irregardless to be a nonsensical word, as the ir- prefix usually functions to indicate negation; however, in this case it appears to function as an intensifier.   13. It's so sad that one of the most beautiful places on earth is so damned poor. I don't, however, understand why WV beef is selling cheaper than feedlot beef. It should be fetching a premium price as grass-fed, premium product. This is an opportunity lost that could be fixed with some decent stock and a marketing campaign. Where I live the geography is very much the same (albeit on a smaller scale) and our mountain-bred, grass-fed beef fetches a huge premium over feedlot grain-fed mass-produced stuff.

Anyone who knows the story will know that was Guam for one simple reason, the road was white; not asphalt or concrete greys but stark, coral white and the only US protectorate with coral roads is Guam. Guam rocks, it's one heckin' great place for a holiday but at the same time Guam gets screwed over more than any other place under US control and that includes places such as the Pacifi9c protectorates, Panama or Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands (and the rest). Guam deserves so much more and they don't get it and yet, they still want to be a part of the US even tho the US is screwing them at every opportunity. How could such folk not be worthy of the same rights as any other USAian?
