everything she said is rubbish The reason our energy prices are so high is rolling back Labour's 2010 green initiatives and tying our Grid to GAS Offshore wind is 2.5 times cheaper per unit than that generated from coal or nuclear

it closed because it is uneconomic A coal fired power station has unit costs of x 2.5 times that of offshore wind The reason our energy prices are so high are the rolling back of labours 2010 green agenda and reliance on GAS

@Yorci62 It's about cost to the consumer. Gas has extraction, processing and transport costs Renewable energy does not. Savings accelerate over time because wind and solar input energy are not subject to inflation, and currently renewable infrastructure costs are falling in real terms. Both a Gas Generator and a wind farm have maintenance costs if you say a unit of both now costs 100 in 10 years the unit provided by wind will have increased marginally in line with maintenance. If you factor in +5% cost rises to gas year on year over 10 years that 100 unit now costs 160 + maintenance. Offshore wind reached Cost parity back in 2020 with base gas generation before the crisis.

Do your research on renewable energy per unit it is 2.5 times cheaper than that generated by Coal

Mines are closing because there not economic Coal generation is x 2.5 times more expensive than the latest offshore wind Our energy costs are the highest in Europe why Because successive Tory administrations have rolled back the renewable agenda to the point it takes 7 years to get a Pylon through planning, our homes are the worst insulated in Europe and you can't add mass storage to the Grid in multiple locations due to Old out of date grid software. Who pays you Nana oh right an offshore billionaire with ties to the fossil lobby enough said

@Yorci62 went clay pigeon shooting the other week with my son (yes I'm a well off pensioner with plenty of time to indulge in researching how to make my home more energy efficient and also look at the bigger picture) They installed a huge solar array which provides 120% of thier power usage for the hotel and lodge over the year The manager had it installed when electricity shot up he said it saved the business 100k so far it would be more if battery storage was cheaper and an option I have thermal solar it provides 75% of my hot water capital costs are paid for by year 7 Your the one who blindly believes the pure horsesh1t your fed by the right and the fossil lobby

@Yorci62 Renewables are cheaper now and There's nothing stopping us deploying small scale mesh networked solar and batteries through residential properties especially on new builds. It will not cost more short term because of net zero it will cost more short term because of privatisation and a lack of investment in grid infrastructure. Our energy costs have risen because they rolled back Labour's renewable policies and stopped investment. and We don't pay for a new windfarm development it's done by private companies who borrow on the Market and provide Electricity and get a forward contract price. That price for Dogger Bank WindFarm is 42 in comparison Hinkley C if it ever comes online is index linked to inflation standing currently at 120. If you bought battery storage tomorrow and put it on the grid at strategic nodes it would pay for itself within 2 years by storing always on power. The cost of Peak Gas Standby Generation is Billions as a method of Grid smoothing it is completely outdated in comparison with software driven fully automated Mass Storage.
