@bobjames6622 you can run a passive house entirely off solar and a powerbank with minimal grid pull. I could build a wind turbine from an old washing machine motor and some plastic pipe don't be stupid think these things through

Renewable energy is the cheapest on the grid by a large margin has been since 2019

Why can't it be achieved?

@bobjames6622 Why do you base your opinion on ill informed pundits who know zero about the energy market Norway run 93% renewable we have a unique topography round the British isles that would naturally lead itself to tidal power that you can use as a base load. We are at the conjunction of competing weather systems east and west with multiple shallow off shore locations to site wind farms. We could use excess wind and tidal power to either export to Europe or crack hydrogen gas from water at a fraction of the current cost of natural gas, you can run a 20/80 mix on our current infrastructure reducing gas consumption by 1/5th. As more electric vehicles come onto the market you can use Vehicle to Grid Tech to smooth demand spikes offering discounts for off peak charging vastly reducing Gas peaker plants Tidal would be no more costly than Nuclear offshore wind is 2.5 times cheaper than nuclear and 7.5 times cheaper than current electricity spot price. Our current Wind mix is 17% our current renewable mix is 33% And lastly Octopus paid 45 million in windfall tax due to being renewable only last year Shell paid zero and Nest went out of business costing the taxpayer 6 million

@iamrocketray Yields are falling according to the US Agri department due to increasing drought conditions caused by climate change. We have large amounts of natural carbon decomposition what there talking about is reducing fossil use so we don't wrap ourselves in a carbon duvet and cook ourselves to death with the greenhouse effect. We are also melting both poles at an accelerated rate Please get better information preferably not from the fossil lobby or the millionaire billionaire class who see a move from Fossil as destroying their business model

@paulpaintshop103 tidal - keep up

@rafalwspin1 average household car does 142 miles a week average current battery has 250 range if your using 9kw gets some insulation and led light bulbs plus an efficient boiler plus thermal solar to heat your water
